After their widely lauded ‘Drie punt…‘ mini-series, Dutch collective De Lichting go from strength to strength with their latest ‘Cycle‘ EP, from Human Space Machine.
For a small crew with a smattering of releases, De Lichting punch well above their weight. Building up their discography predominantly with compilations and split releases from within the group, there are few chances thus far to sink into a full extended player from one of the group, with Queniv’s ‘Redesign‘ being the last solo release.
Although ‘Cycle‘ marks the third solo Human Space Machine outing of 2020 there appears to be no drop in quality; throughout the EP we’re given reasons for the producer’s chosen pen name, with three astral-minded techno cuts.
Our premiere ‘Mind Expander‘ is trained for dancefloors — tense and unrelenting, the track marches on rolling drum beats that seem to pull the listener downwards in a spiral, matched with echoing bursts that sound like the last gasps of a spaceship control panel.
‘Cycle’ is scheduled for release 2 November via De Lichting. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
