Premiere: Web – Let’s Dance Buried In Bubbles

Jun Kamoda’s Jun Records reach their 10th release with a special EP from Japanese electronic pioneer Web. Entitled ‘PRESENT’, the record marks the return of the artist after two decades away from releasing music.

Perhaps a lesser-known pioneer of Japanese dance music in comparison to his contemporaries such as Shinichi Atobe, Web is nonetheless a vital staple in Japan’s underground electronic culture, with releases on the front-running Japanese techno label Syzygy and internationally renowned FatCat Records, encompassing everything from techno to early drum and bass and ambient.

It’s hard not to let the title do all the talking for ‘Let’s Dance Buried In Bubbles’ — a thriving, effervescent wonder filled to the brim with feather-light pops of sound atop a firm percussion framework. For a comeback record, this track alone smacks as fresh as some of 2020’s most out-there and forward thinking dance tracks.

‘Web / Present’ is scheduled for release on 6 November via Jun Records. Order a copy on Bandcamp.
