North Carolina-based label and shop Maison Fauna ready their latest release, ‘Decrepit Synthesis‘, a 4-track EP of industrial techno slammers from Ito Gasper.
Excellently dubbed ‘Evil Gay Techno’ by the artist, we find it hard to alter this frankly incredible and apt description of his own music: lethal contortions of full-pelt gear for cruddy and disheveled dancefloors worldwide, Ito’s music shoulders the brunt of violent techno sound palettes, but also confidently dodges the bullet of “basic Berlin techno” compositions.
‘Vocal Fold Paralysis‘ hits like a Giant Swan track double-dipped in the Bristolian live duo’s own secret recipe — a warped and messed-up vocal loop lends the track it’s name, but the push-and-pull bassline is where the magic lies. Industrial without being overly harsh, dark without taking itself too seriously, the track arcs between high-energy set centrepiece and barely-restrained moments of simmering anticipation.
