Up next on Maple Death Records is ‘Moods‘ LP from London-based production duo Jerome, consisting of Annalisa Iembo and Stella Mathioudakis.
The Canadian/UK imprints past discography of gritty DIY electronics make a perfect home for Jerome’s brand of dark, redlined electronics. Evocative of the likes of Toresch in one moment, the most fearsome shades of Not Waving the next, the pair have created a blinding statement album for their debut long player.
Midway point ‘KoolKool‘ sees the pair at perhaps their heaviest. Motorik drums under heavy-duty reverb shudder through the introduction as strafing scuzz scrapes out a coarse midrange groove. The militant beat thus far is just the beginning, however: the centrefold of the track sees mutilated vocals flare up, their haunting melody scrambling the beat into confusion without impacting the full-forward tilt of the track.
‘Moods’ is scheduled for release 11 December via Maple Death Records. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
