Premiere: Kromoplastik – Jrknz

Oslo-based record label LEK kick off the year with a 15-track various artist compilation named ‘Smooth‘, enlisting artists from Norway and Georgia.

LEK gave each artist an open ended prompt: “Rather than just asking for tracks, we sent out an invitation commissioning everyone involved to make a smooth track.” The resulting tracks present varied interpretations of that prompt, with the majority of tracks offering cloudy, low-slung electronica fit for a mellow chill out vibe.

Our pick from the compilation is Kromoplastik’s ‘JRKNZ‘ – a biting slab of acid singed techno that rips a hole in the dancefloor and plunges us backward in time to a day when the TR-808 was the one drum machine to rule them all.

‘Smooth’ is scheduled for release on 1st March via LEK. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
