Next up on Ryan Elliott‘s Faith Beat imprint is Detroit-based DJ, label owner, producer, and promoter Max Watts. ‘The Dusk EP’ is an excellent showcase of the producer’s hardware-focussed brand of dance music and is accompanied by a remix from fellow Tennessee native Alex Falk.
Releasing a string of dancefloor ready white labels since 2019, the producer’s own Limited Network label has become a favourite of those in the know. Eschewing fancy promotional strategies and letting the music do the talking, the label feels like it’s well on its way to cult status.
From the shuffling swagger of ‘Realminimal’ to the nimble and percussive title track, there’s a lack of pretence across these gritty tracks. The warm and bouncy groove of ‘Shortlivedfeeling’ is simple but effective and is our pick from the release.
