Following a sprinkling of track contributions to Freakadelle’s ‘44-2‘ compilation in 2021 and on Night Defined Recordings in 2022 – alongside Mesak, Even Tuell and Mary Yalex – Nurah lines up his debut album ‘CTRL‘.
Beamed straight out of the depths of Mozart’s hometown of Salzburg, Freakadelle is an Austrian imprint and non-profit collective from the cultural association ‘Klubkulturklub Freakadelle’ established to promote contemporary music culture to local, young and creative artists. Operated by Jürgen Vonbank, Nurah’s album was funded by the City of Salzburg.
Consisting of seven tracks, ‘CTRL‘ is a grand display of styles, enveloping listeners in ambient textures and woozy electronics via iridescent synths and twisted techno rides. Nurah even interweaves whale sounds in ‘5AM feat. Dub Tales‘. Clearly, there’s a lot to soak in, rest assured it’s worth it.
Our pick from the album is lead track ‘CTRL‘ – venting an uncanny likeness to Legowelt, it’s a purebred party starter, guaranteed to get the head nodding and feet shuffling. If Mozart were alive, he’d strongly recommend you do a good deed and treat yourself to this amazing debut album.
‘CTRL’ is scheduled for release on 24 February via Freakadelle. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
