Premiere: Ones., Rasval & The Metropolitan Narrative – Nebelgelb (Sleeparchive Remix)

As winter begins to recede, a new vinyl-only imprint TMN TRAX prepares to launch in Berlin, presenting their first release from label co-founders Ones. and Rasval, bolstered with remixes from VRIL and Sleeparchive.

Detached from the intensity of clubs, musical trends and overt external influences during the pandemic, Ones. and Rasval instead found respite in their studio forging new music permeating vaporous strains of coarsely-grained dub techno alongside the initiative to set up TMN TRAX.

With their own productions offering a murky and perhaps bittersweet reflection of this period, ‘Tau‘ and ‘Nebelgelb‘ are characterised by the complete absense of percussion. Instead, rhythm and groove unfold through a dense fog of atmosphere with consistent muffled bass.

Our pick from the release is Roger Semsroth’s seemingly Basic Channel-inspired remix of ‘Nebelgelb‘. Sidestepping his usual blend of no-nonsense techno, Semsrot instead adopts a reduced guise of Sleeparchive – offering a distilled dub techno reshape spanning 5 minutes.

Concocting a foggy mantra of jagged dub, undulating bass and an all enveloping atmosphere. Sleeparchive majestically carves his own space into the fabric of TMN TRAX’s debut release. I for one shall be keeping an attentive eye on this German imprint.

‘Nebelgelb’ is scheduled for release on 27 February via TMN TRAX. Order a vinyl copy from Inverted Audio Store.
