Following in the wake of his abstract album ‘Lucide Stragi‘ issued in 2019, Italian producer Omar Contri returns as Shinoby on his Verona-based label ISTHEWAY, marking the eighth release on the imprint.
Consisting of four tracks, the EP features two solo tracks and two remixes on the flip side. Mass Prod delivers a sneaky techno banger characterised by a warm modular feeling, whilst on the flip, Triš & Buttechno formulate a techno dub aesthetic in a quietly perfected formula as in the mid-90’s (à la Basic Channel).
Mastered by Marco Pellegrino and featuring artwork by Fernanda Rizzo, our pick from the release is the brazen stomper ‘Oblivion‘ – thanks to its pent up acidity, chronic noise aesthetic and saturated industrial techno trips, this tracks shifts with rhythmic analogue filters and rugged drums.
