Following releases from Italian mastermind Sofatalk, Australian jazz electronica sensation Horatio Luna and Sam Irl among others, the Bordeaux-based broken beat specialist Broken District prepare to release ‘Shapes Interfusion‘ LP – courtesy of Tuscan multi-instrumentalist Riccardo Chiarucci, better known as Slowaxx.
After recording countless live sessions and crafting his home productions, ‘Shapes Interfusion‘ redefines togetherness as a multi-layered expression of forbearance. Surrounded by six musicians and one rapper, Slowaxx navigates effortlessly between torrents of modern funk, ethereal jazz, gangsta funk rhymes and electronica extravaganza for a solid debut effort.
Our pick for the premiere is ‘Emoyeni‘ – a high-spirited groove tailored to the loyal fan base of Mr Wiggles. As the track benignly enters the stratosphere with funkadelic drum rhythms, cosmic frequencies and groovy basslines, Slowaxx keeps the pace to a definite thrill with the right amount of free jazz ride interludes.
