Paris-based record label Circus Company line up the release of ‘High Hopes’, the fifth album from long-time label contributor The Mole, further cementing his place in the imprints expansive discography.
Following standout releases on Wagon Repair, Slices Of Life, Philpot, Perlon and Deadbeat’s BLKRTZ, The Mole offers up seventeen tracks that transcend the constraints of space and time. A sonic capsule that melds far-flung corners of the globe, ‘High Hopes’ embodies a utopian vision where Vancouver’s urban surge converges with the crystalline waters of Manantiales in Uruguay.
Featuring collaborations with Rick May, Sophie Trudeau (Godspeed You Black Emperor and Danuel Tate (Cobblestone Jazz), ‘High Hopes‘ is a beguiling paradise, where the organic sound of field recordings, ambient folk, and dubbed-out rhythms come together to form a sample-based force of life.
Our pick ‘Heart of a Canary’ is a shimmering enigma – a track that begins with a kinetic drum break, transforming into expansive and contemplative soundscapes soaring into a hypnotic daydream of dub-infused melancholy, enveloping listeners in a dreamscape cocoon.
‘High Hopes’ is scheduled for release 22 November via Circus Company. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
