Premiere: Tom Hang – Cage (Céilí Remix)

Helmed by Dylan Moran, Céilí Collective is an intriguing new label operating out of London via Ireland, “set up to administer a channel for artists to come forward together and deliver an acute quality sound through unity between less and many“.

To those wondering, the label explains the term Céilí (pronounced ‘Kay-Lee’) “rang of highs in old Ireland, it was an outing preaching a poem of freedom.”

Ireland like most others was a land fallen to a sword. In those days some sang old and new songs set to old music or new music composed in the manner of the old, Today some sing old and new songs set to old music or new music composed in the manner of the old. Our ethos and philosophy revolves around the gathering of like-minded people joining forces for dance“.

Going further into the roots and shoots of his venture, Moran says “in a time moving too fast for clear thought, these series of tapes are aimed to explore ways to dilute the filtering future of electronic music and present a balance in new that lasts“.

Lifted from the label’s debut VA, ‘CEILI 0.1‘, featuring the likes of Roma Zuckerman, Tom Hang, Céilí, DJ Fucku, Witch Trials and Darren Devery, our pick finds label honcho Céilí treating Tom Hang‘s minimal churner ‘Cage’ to a blustery mix of untamed FXs, fracturing breaks, hard-hitting drums and malevolent analogue semantics on overheat, resulting in a proper exuberant floor predator that swirls and hovers above like a sinisterly enjoyable omen. FIYAH that is.

CEILI 0.1 is released via Céilí Collective on 28th January, pre-order a copy from Bandcamp.
