Following today’s news piece about Kokong Festival, we can now announce Kokong Festival Sampler Vol. 2, a six-track various artists compilation offering a taste of the sonic landscape awaiting visitors on the Åland Islands from 31 July–1 August.
Bringing together artists from this year’s programme, the sampler reflects the breadth of Kokong’s musical identity, moving between immersive ambient, hypnotic techno and exploratory electronics. Contributions come from Havsmörker, Yard One, Samuli Kemppi, Tryst, Erase and Simone Ghetti, each offering a different perspective on the festival’s ethos of collaboration and deep listening.
Our premiere today is ‘Paciferous Raindrop Dub’ by Tryst, who sketches an expansive landscape built from dub, texture and atmosphere. Opening beneath a veil of tape hiss and softly echoing percussion, the track gradually unfurls through long, swelling pads, delicate piano figures and gently orbiting synths that seem to drift endlessly around the stereo field. Beneath it all, a slow, deep kick anchors the track without ever disturbing its sense of stillness, allowing every detail to breathe.
The result is an exquisitely lush soundscape, a bubbling sonic pool overlooking a glistening sunrise. The track balances warmth with spaciousness, inviting the listener to settle into its depths as subtle textures continuously surface and dissolve and it’s a fitting introduction to a festival where careful listening is just as important as movement on the dancefloor.
‘Kokong Festival Sampler Vol.2’ is scheduled for release on 1st August via KOKONG.
