Describing HEKTAR, Christian Mayer explains that the Stuttgart-based label’s goal is to provide a platform that promotes musical experimentation. Their first ever compilation brings together seven international artists whose convention-defying tracks are aligned with the label’s vision.
Turning Torso has been making music for over a decade. Glancing at the artist’s Bandcamp reveals that early releases were perhaps equally informed by indie rock as by electronic music. Since then, the artist has touched on many different styles including whimsical electronica and abstract soundscapes.
In the past couple of years, the producer has really started to make waves. With intricate productions that evade easy categorisation, Turning Torso’s newer material blends club tropes with clever sound design. ‘Geotrauma’ is a great example of this, a high-tempo workout with an emphasis on the details.
‘HKTR_01’ is scheduled for release 30 July via HEKTAR. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
