Launched two years ago, Jena-based imprint Solid Rotation makes for an interesting specimen in the realm of German underground techno. Still mostly a local affair but packed with the required potential to turn some of the most demanding dancefloors at sixes and sevens, SR are set to break 2018 in with a searing remix batch, ‘DEPOT II‘, featuring some of our most favourite artists in the persons of Benedikt Frey, Panthera Krause, Jonas Friedlich and newcomers Westlake & Hayter.
Taken from this four-track package of revamps and versions, based upon label staples Lekande and vokode’s previous releases on the label, we’re glad to present Friedlich’s take on the latter’s two tracks ‘Wieck‘ and ‘Glowe‘, both from his ‘Hidden Places‘ EP released last year. Stitching together a smoking mashup of rough-hewn junglisms, detuned stabs and droning synth spires puffing up like a blood-replete mosquito, the Carl Gari member sets the calendar back to year ’94, taking us straight into a turbulent trance for the senses. 100% thickset body music.
DEPOT II is released via Solid Rotation on 2nd February, pre-order a copy from Bandcamp.
