Premiere: Wheez-ie – Guttermouth

Following releases from Germanic duo New Frames and label boss Keepsakes, New Zealand techno purveyors HAVEN line up their next batch of relentless rave tracks from Wheez-ie.

The LA-based producer has tried his hand at a range of styles over the years including flirtations with dubstep, juke and breakcore. In more recent times, his sound has leaned towards heavy techno and breakbeat pressure, landing on labels such as THEM, Evar Records and Craigie Knowes.

As a producer, Wheez-ie enjoys experimenting with the dichotomy between playful and serious. This is perhaps evident on ‘Guttermouth’, our pick from the release. Dark and pummeling, he’s unafraid to season it with some unexpected melodic elements that help to keep things lively.

‘Stolen Moments’ is scheduled for release 19 August via HAVEN. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
