Mexico’s Infinite Machine add another string to their ever-expanding repertoire of forward-thinking and mould-breaking dance music with UK producer Yilan’s ‘Suddenly I Am Falling‘ EP.
Yilan’s first outing on the label, ‘Regression‘ EP, saw the Leeds local bring commended producers Amazondotcom and Superficie onboard to help out on two of the tracks. His follow-up also sees a pair of collaborations, this time from Ebb and Ren, their co-production adding diversity to the already broad spectrum of sounds on ‘Suddenly I’m Falling‘.
A late-game highlight, ‘AFADS‘ sees Yilan and Ebb working in neat partnership to bring a rolling monster to life: melding tense energies with rich, enigmatic sound design, ‘AFADS‘ flows through several forms, each dropping the listener progressively deeper into the dense groove. Combative percussion keeps the pressure high as it punches out over leaden basslines that hold the ears and attention in a vice grip. Fearless in candour, relentless in character, Yilan’s work on this track and the whole EP shows a producer finding his sound and wringing out the very best aspects.
