PVAS: Somaesthesia

"Aggressive breaks, dreamy chords and the gentle strokes of a slow-burning
bass. The rough and palpating sound ignites the flesh of the underground body"

Following his ‘Accepting eEntropy Loss‘ EP in 2021 on xpq? and collaborative album as NUG with Florian T M Zeisig last year, PVAS lands on Québec-based record label Isla with ‘Somaesthesia‘ – a 4-track EP oozing disfigured vocals, unruly bass, raw IDM and shuffling breaks.

With the flicker of a lighter sparking up, smoke-inhaled lungs and long exhales of sustained breath, this EP plummets through, altering mortal sensations at the mercy of the beat.

‘Somaesthesia’ serves pleasure on a hot plate with swells of sub-bass and spitting breaks between whispers of desperate voices coming up for air. No rest for the wicked ‘Schlesi Boat’ is a staggering dub-infused number, dense and hazy, preserving the heat with a switch in pace and compelling the body into a fluid motion.

For hints of soft sensuality, collaborators PS and Florian TM Zeisig add a luscious stack of micro-rhythms and euphoric synths to ‘Dream Resumption‘ and ‘Visitation‘, made for playfully emotive close encounters.

Experimenting with the human self and identity, ‘Somaesthesia’ converges aggressive breaks, dreamy chords, and the gentle strokes of a slow-burning bass resulting in four nocturnal etchings, sensitive to the touch of a true degenerate. The rough and palpating sound of PVAS ignites the flesh of the underground body.

‘Somaesthesia’ is scheduled for release 24 February via Isla. Order a vinyl copy from Inverted Audio Store.
