Trevino’s final album ‘Back’ gains posthumous release

In 2017 the electronic music world was shaken by the unexpected death of Mancunian producer Marcus Intalex aka Trevino. Now six years on, the producers own label Birdie line up the posthumous release of the final Trevino album.

Making a name for himself in the mid-90s through his influential radio show Da Intalex on Kiss 102 FM, co-hosted with DJ Mark XTC, Kaye was a pioneer of the 1990’s drum-and-bass scene, moving on to found the labels Soul:R, Revolve:R, and Birdie. Later in life, Kaye moved towards a sound more influenced by house and techno, producing under the alias Trevino – named after Lee Trevino, his favourite golfer when he was growing up – and releasing records via 3024, Aus and Hotflush.

The Trevino moniker was an output for Marcus to return to his love of house and techno, inspired by his experience of working in record shops from a young age where he would be receiving records spanning across Chicago house and Detroit techno – most notably referencing the Belleville Three as a key influence.

In May 2016, Marcus released his debut album as Trevino named ‘Front– nine tracks aimed squarely at the dancefloor. “Nothing too arsey or technical or intellectual, just 8 solid dancefloor cuts plus one short beatless thing to help make them all fit onto the vinyl.”

Almost exactly seven years on, his follow up album ‘Back’ will be released posthumously on the 26th May to mark the six year anniversary of Marcus passing (28th May 2017). Although most of the tracks for ‘Back‘ were made during Marcus’ time living in Berlin, he moved back to Manchester in early 2017 to make the most of his home studio.

‘Back’ is scheduled for release on 26 May via Birdie. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
