Since departing from the solely digital output and their initial aim of opening the Dublin scene to a broader audience, First Second Label extended their reach onto a worldwide level nimbly: kicking things off with an inaugural release from Russian producer and Isaiah Tapes honcho Bessiekat, rapidly followed by a top-notch debut transmission from rising Vancouver duo Minimal Violence.
For their third instalment, the label triangulates between Leipzig, Düsseldorf and Hamburg as Rat Life and Shtum affiliate Leibniz plays the role of catalyst – respectively teaming up with Golem Club regular Alex Hoppe as DJ bwin and Felix Paul as DJ OK, for what First Second describe as “four oldschool, beatsy and breaky house cuts ready for the club“.
For the occasion YouTube’s very own video collagist OOUKFunkyOO adorns DJ bwin’s lead track ‘Mit Bonus ins Casino‘ with a kaleidoscopic mishmash of thermal camera visions, acid-induced hallucinations and geometric patterns breaking out in brightly-hued digital origamis. A trance-y, mind-expanding imagery that fits the tune’s infusion of early FlyLo ‘Los Angeles‘ kind of vibe and ravey breaks-laden bounce like a glove.
Untitled is released via First Second Label in late October.
