From his beginnings on L.I.E.S. through a batch of under-the-table edits of songs by R’n’B goddess Sade onto his last couple EPs on Ninja Tune’s offshoot Technicolour, it’s safe to say Florian Kupfer operated quite a radical shift in terms of overall aesthetic and sound research.
Lovers of the Berliner’s dusty, soul-infused club weapons from the Morelli era can rejoice, his new instalment for rising Russian imprint Private Persons unearths three like-minded hybrids of oxidized Chicago house rhythms, wistful ambient and tape-saturated melodies worthy of his most haunting slabs. Recorded five years ago, the title-track will beam you up right back at the time of Kupfer’s benchmark gem ‘Lifetrax‘ creation.
Post Present is released via Private Persons on 9th June, pre-order a vinyl copy from Lobster Records.
