Premiere: Artefakt – Rail

Collaborating under the name Artefakt, Berlin-based Dutch live-act and DJ duo Robin Koek and Nick Lapien are accomplished producers by most metrics.

Releasing music together since the mid-2010’s, Artefakt’s discography is replete with tracks that are primed for the dancefloor. However, there’s often a focus on textural and atmospheric details that elevate their music well above simple DJ tools.

From dreamy to driving, chugging to chill, they’re also highly versatile producers. Last year’s ‘Collaborations I’, a record made together with Claudio PRC and released on their own De Stijl imprint, provides a fine example of their musical range.

This versatility is also a feature of ‘Brain Dripper’, their latest effort landing on Delsin imminently. Our pick from the release ‘Rail‘ is awash with glistening pads and shimmering hi-hats and is reminiscent of the very best ambient techno from the nineties.

‘Brain Dripper’ is scheduled for release on 31 October via Delsin. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
