Having delivered releases from Hess Publica’s mastermind Selected Dream Memories, Solma, and Fluid Matter among others, Lyon-based imprint Virtual Forest gear up to release their first vinyl release from misfit producer Mohammed Vicente, better known as Brainbeats.
In the wake of a previous appearance on a various artists compilation on the French imprint Criminal Justice Act, ‘Ubiquity‘ is nothing less than a sagacious spin on cloud nine. With five tracks alternating between pitched down trance, misty breakbeats, and sofa-shaped downtempo, Brainbeats offers a listening session through the maze of rhythm.
Our pick for the premiere is ‘Easy‘ – a sleepwalker lullaby for ambient connoisseurs under the full moon. Featuring delicate bells and multilayered arpeggios, Brainbeats signals the dawn with an oddball collection of talking steps.
