Premiere: Echo Juliet – Life On Trains

Following a series of research studies on gender studies in music, appearances on BBC Woman’s Hour, and managing the Future Proof project for Bradley Zero’s label Rhythm Section, Birmingham-based producer, percussionist and activist Echo Juliet lines up her debut album on her own Invisible IDs imprint.

Centred as a platform to spotlight electronic music by women and gender-expansive producers, ‘Abandon Reality‘ is an album that blends deep house cuts, garage stompers, and jazz. Floating Points fans take note.

Our pick from the release is ‘Life On Trains’ thanks to its locomotive climax entangled with broken beat, synthetic chords and maudlin sound frequencies. “I used to commute from Birmingham to Newcastle every week, and wanted to capture the feeling that train travel gives me,” says Emily.

‘Abandon Reality’ EP is scheduled for release on 27th October via Invisible IDs. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
