Premiere: Levon Vincent – Soundtrack Of My Thoughts

Following contributions from Reggie Dokes, Brian Kage and Patrice Scott, We Play House Recordings line up the fourth edition of their U.S. Series, serving up a searing split EP from Red D and Levon Vincent.

Long inspired by the sounds from Detroit, Chicago and New York, Belgium-based label boss Bart Van Neste inaugurated the U.S. Series in 2019 to showcase his love for the originators of house music. With house at the very epitome of the coining of the label name, ‘Novelties‘ EP stays true to the labels unwavering ethos.

Originally from Houston, Levon Vincent moved to New York in 1983, who later went on to cut his teeth working at record shops and DJ’ing in the city. He even played at The Limelight in the 1990’s and was present when the club was raided and Canadian club owner and party promoter Peter Gatien was arrested.

A lot has changed since that era, with Levon launching not one but two solo imprints, his first More Music NY in 2002 and his second Novel Sound in 2009, which subsequently catapulted him to the focus of the European electronic music scene. Now residing in Berlin, Levon has continued to release music through Novel Sound, issuing a string of club ready EP’s plus a hip-hop / downtempo album ‘Silent Cities‘ last year, which we strongly suggest you check out.

Levon now joins the fold at We Play House Recordings offering a 10-minute slice of dubbed out house that reverberates a similar metallic quality to his ‘Invisible Bitchslap‘ EP in 2008 and ‘Double Jointed Sex Freak‘ EP in 2009. ‘Soundtrack Of My Thoughts‘ is an outstanding contribution to the discography of both WPH and Levon Vincent. Open up the windows, switch on the decks and play this one loud!

‘Novelties’ EP is scheduled for release on 20 March via We Play House Recordings. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
