Italian production duo Orion prepare to unleash the sixth release on their self-titled Milanese imprint, presenting a swathe of lucid ambient soundscapes, breakbeat grooves and syncopated loops.
Fuelled with a mutual passion for the deeper shades of music – Orion evoke the deepest of emotions with their music, as demonstrated during their 3-hour DJ set this summer at Above Below Festival.
Their latest EP is named ‘TENET‘ – perhaps a nod towards the concept of time manipulation, providing a sonic vehicle to transport listeners back to warmer climates. Consisting of 5 tracks all mastered by Vril, ‘TENET‘ is a mixture of heady beats, richly textured ambience and glittering synth melodies.
Our pick from the release is ‘I Control‘ – equal parts sci-fi and spiritual, the track develops momentum with electronica shaped drum work, providing a solid base for a magnificent synth to beam in. Radiating a sound similar to what you’d expect from Boards of Canada masterminds Mike Sandison and Marcus Eoin. Keep this one in mind for your next celestial dance off.
