Sporting a leaping dolphin as its emblem and donning an Earth-and-Life-friendly title, Natural Sciences is about to make a splash in the underground house scene. Rising from the industrial outlooks and grey-shaded panoramas of Manchester, the label decidedly opted for the full ektachrome vista of exotic destinations instead.
Natural Sciences christening release Low Definitions also marks the debuts of a young producer hailing from the banks of Haarlem, Netherlands and who goes under the name of Aleks. Over the course of the past months, this raw talent didn’t go unnoticed on the Soundcloud platform and 2015 promises to be the year of his florescence with no less than three releases including this one and two others on Hesperian Sound Division and Shimmering Moods coming later this year.
Blending splurges of pixelated colors and ventilating pads, dust-lidded layers of proto-tropical house material and darker mantles, Low Definitions interlaces whisking momentums and kicking-back phases with talent, managing to not get outstripped by its otherworldliness while weaving diverse horizons in one blinding patchwork of sun-streaked memories.
Today we’re glad to premiere ‘04RW‘, a track that brews together shuffling chicagoan rhythms and etheral pads with a pinch of vocals getting squeezed down in a pulp of tape-saturated, dust and hiss jumble, whispering its bizarre dancefloor gospel across the grain. Fast-beating percussions and unruly hats run the voodoo down for good. You’ve been warned: Aleks is on the shortlist for rookie of the year.
Low Definitions is released via Natural Sciences in a strictly-limited run of 300 copies end of June 2015. You can order a copy via the label’s Bandcamp.
