Premiere: Unknown – Amy A1

Mysterious German imprint MASK have operated under a clear vision, a music first policy centred around live hardware jams. Aesthetically, the label straddles techno and house, showcasing the best of both and while being dependent on neither.

There is not a hint of pretension here, with previous entries offering honest dance floor material, the label has attracted fans such as Machine Woman, Laurent Garnier, Dan Curtin, DJ Deep and Dan Curtain. Fundamentally, there is a certain quality to MASK that has a broad appeal while not compromising an underground sensibility.

Their latest EP – simply titled ‘Amy‘ – encompasses six untitled tracks, with the A-side more direct in comparison to a crop of more unusual and angular moments over on the flip. Catch the premiere of the lead track, which combines driving jazz loops deft elements that come tight-as-you-like but also loose and soulful.

‘Amy’ is scheduled for release on 5 October. Order a copy from Redeye Records.
