The Scottish label’s main face is hardly one we associate with placid music in the first place, with the likes of Rudolf C, Jensen Interceptor and Frey all pitching in to help form one of the UK’s most vital modern labels.
The predominantly electro flex of the main label, however, has something to fear from its mutant sibling’s terrorised, breakbeat-heavy strains, and Wheez-ie turns in 2 tracks that continue the trend.
‘ONLY HUMAN‘, with redlined and relentless breaks, is a brutal example of his take on 90’s rave-era mayhem. Despite the heavy pressure, Wheez-ie crams in nimble twists and variation in the formula, all whilst keeping the foot firmly on the accelerator throughout. Deserving both of the all-caps typography, and the Matrix sample that precedes the punch.
‘ONLY HUMAN / WEAPONIZED’ is scheduled for release on 5 October. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
