It’s easy to assume that the music video is a dwindling art form. Back in the 80’s, music videos were large enough to occupy an art genre all on their own. MTV was an extremely popular television platform, but in 2018, we ask the question: are music videos still a thing?
We personally invest a lot of time consuming music, but when we are sent a music video that totally blows our minds – it offers a totally different point of view and often imprints that music onto our retinas and into our memories for eternity. Ultimately music videos are part of our visual language and are a great way to spend five minutes on the commute.
It is now easier than ever to make your own music video and upload it for the world to see, but just because everyone and anyone can make a music video doesn’t mean that they’re good, and what does good even mean? Well that depends on who you are asking. Anyway, to mark our final end of year list, we have searched high and low for the very best music videos – so without further ado here are our best music videos of 2018.
