Herbert returns after 8 years with new ‘Parts’ EP

Having not heard from ‘s house-orientated  alias for several years until the complete box set appeared in 2013, we had nearly resigned to the idea that the world might never see another Herbert release. So imagine our jubilant surprise when we learnt that not only was the producer readying a new release, but that it would be a continuation of the seminal Parts series last seen in 1996.

Lead track ‘One Two Three‘ kicks off the EP in the key of summer as Herbert builds a luminous composition around London vocalist Rahel of Hejira’s soulful crooning in more of a Matthew than a Herbert vein. However, the remainder of the EP sees Herbert revisiting the raw and minimal but fundamentally human house aesthetic he honed so well in the first five incarnations of the Parts series.

‘Part 6’ will be released on the 23rd and 29th June on limited vinyl and digital respectively. In addition, you can catch the man himself play two exclusive DJ sets at fabric, London on the 20th and Space, Ibiza on the 21st.
