Born in 2008, Mexican Summer set out releasing limited-edition, ornately packaged vinyl pieces. Over five short years, Mexican Summer has expanded its catalog to over 200 releases across multiple formats while maintaining the hands-on sensibility of a boutique record label. The label has expanded to include two sister labels: Software Recording Co, an experimental electronic label headed by Daniel Lopatin of Oneohtrix Point Never, and Anthology Recordings, a reissue label.
Using a technique he calls video mulch Wyatt blends found footage with cuts from popular films and scenes recorded by the artist himself. You could always sense an ironic approach in Wyatt’s visuals but his LP feels on the contrary – candid and emotional.
