REMAIIN bolster Belgium’s Sonic City with four avant-garde acts

Between 11-13 November, Sonic City takes placed in Belgium, a three day alternative music festival in the city of Kortrijk curated by Low, Black Country, New Road and Gilla Band.

Amassing over 3000 attendees, Sonic City brings together an assembly of post-rock and alternative bands, exploring synth and darkwave, punk and hardcore, spanning both well and lesser-known artists.

For the 2022 edition, Sonic City present a collaboration from Kali Malone, Lucy Railton and Stephen O’Malley named ‘Does Spring Hide Its Joy’, as well as performances bands including Horse Lords, Indigo Sparke, Crack Cloud, Arooj Aftab, anonymous Swedish rock-psych-funk amalgam Goat.

For the discerning and experimental listeners, REMAIIN bring the avant-garde sounds of Senegalese band Wau Wau Collectif to Kortrijk alongside performances from Congolese band KOKOKO! – known for their explosive and vibrant sound, engineered with DIY instruments.

The 50th anniversary of CAN’s album ‘Ege Bamyasi‘ will be performed and celebrated by the occasional band consisting of Oï les Ox, Joachim Badenhorst, Sergeant, Lennert Jacobs and Milan W. Finally, Use Knife, bring their mutual love for analog and modular electronic machinery to Belgium, presenting propulsive electronic rhythms, ricocheting sequenced melodies and samples and vibrant Arabic drum rhythms.
