Hoodie x James K: 065 (Scorpio)

"A downtempo tour de force reminiscent of Bjork"

Following collaborations with Yves Tumor, Beta Librae, Drew McDowall and Crimeboys, multi-dextrous New York-based artist James K teams up with Hoodie – a collaboration between 3XL head honcho Special Guest DJ and Berlin-based producer exael – to issue a limited edition 10-inch via AD 93.

A downtempo tour de force reminiscent of Bjork, ‘Scorpio‘ is the absolute pinnacle of this release, thanks to trip-hop drum work, processed guitar and the deepest of dub bass lines. James K’s heartfelt lyrics, which are also extremely catchy, enhances the shimmer and whimsical nature of the track. On the flip, ‘Ether‘ forges a much deeper sound-field thanks to extended vocals and abstracted ambiance.

Despite being such a limited release, this 10-inch presents a novel production collaboration that is hard not to be enamoured by. I just hope there’s more music from this trio.

‘065 (Scorpio)’ is scheduled for release on 26th July via AD 93. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
