Bred on mother rave and nourished by the original strains of US house, he is someone who has lived through the first time deep house faced a backlash, the rise and fall of progressive house, and the multiple swings of fashion towards minimal, tech house, bass and beyond. As such, genres are not an important factor in critical appraisal, just good music that can stand on its own two feet. Be it uptempo or downtempo, alien or organic, everything is valid. Emotionless techno, needlessly abstract noise, derivative house and self indulgent muso-ism can all check their feet at the door. Bad taste in hats.
