Christian Löffler Mix Tape: Young Alaska

We caught up with Christian Löffler to discover what exactly helped shape his new album ‘Young Alaska’ and how he compares it with his previous album ‘A Forest’. Christian has also compiled a 10 track downtempo mix tape featuring music from colo, Daughter, Dave DK, Rumpistol, Kiasmos and more.

Fennesz: Becs

Becs is perhaps the most widescreen and melodic of Fennesz’s albums so far. His approach has spawned an awful lot of imitators over the past few years, a sphere of influence that sometimes seems unacknowledged. With Becs he reminds us just how distinct his music is.

Christian Löffler: Young Alaska

For all those new to his work who are fans of Traum, Kompakt and the likes of Rone, Max Cooper and the aforementioned ivory tinklers – this comes thoroughly recommended too.

Teebs: E s t a r a

With a reliance on tighter rhythmic structures than in previous projects, Teebs uses tempered whacks and low-end thumps to pin his production down somewhat making ‘E S T A R A’ feel more anchored and less wistful than his previous work.

Efdemin: Decay

Sollmann has neither changed his principles nor broken the continuity of his body of work with this album. Overall, it feels like a bifurcation. A necessary one.

Mike Dehnert: Lichtbedingt

With this album, Dehnert demonstrates his consistency, switching with finesse from techno to housey patterns, finely sharpening his tunes – quietly delivering one of the best techno albums of the year so far.
