Best Albums of 2019

Over the past 12 months we have overindulged in a vast array of consistently on-point long players from artists both new and old. As with tradition we have compiled what we believe to be the best albums of 2019.

Doon Kanda: Labyrinth

Jesse Kanda’s debut album ‘Labyrinth’, released on Hyperdub under his alias Doon Kanda, seems to encapsulate this embrace for the weird and the wonderful as a descent into some controlled madness.

Georgia: One Mind

YOUTH welcome obscure NY-based duo Georgia to the label, reinforcing the unconventional inclination of electronic music production that Andrew Lyster has set out to uncover.

A.dixen: Death Tapes Vol.2

Made to be experienced as a whole rather than broken down for its stand-out parts, Death Tapes Vol.2 creates an enveloping feeling of airiness and soothing serenity over the course of its twelve finely woven units, balancing the scopic width of its sound design with sharp junglistic onslaughts and full-out breaksy moves bound to make a lasting impact both on and off the dance floor.

Meemo Comma: Sleepmoss

Lara Rix-Martin marks her first album release on Planet Mu with an eerie ode to the changing seasons on ‘Sleepmoss’. Awash with field recordings and natural ambient tones, Sleepmoss sets a new precedence for Rix-Martin’s work as an artist and her role as commentator to the winds and rain.

Wanderwelle & Bandhagens Musikförening: Victory Over The Sun
